Wind energy on the rise
The Canton of St. Gallen has recognized the enormous benefits offered by wind energy as the perfect supplement to solar power and as a means of strengthening its own energy autonomy. During a revision of its structure plan, the Canton identified 17 suitable regions for wind turbines. The amendment to the structure plan also offers the option of building a single turbine like what we have planned. Its location in the industrial zone, right at the place of consumption, has earned the RhintlWind project the support of the Municipality of Au, the Swiss Foundation for Landscape Conservation and the St. Galler Rheintal Association as well as the approval of many stakeholder groups.
SFS plans wind turbine construction in 2025
Info event next winter
Wind measurements and environmental studies have gone well so far. Once the feasibility study has been completed, the SFS Group plans to submit the RhintlWind project for the structure plan in the fall of 2023 and to be able to erect the turbine once the approval process is complete in 2025. The original project schedule will be delayed by around one year as a result. SFS will invite all its neighbors to a talk in the winter of 2023/2024, where it will provide them with information about the project’s current status and answer questions.
